Releasing 1.5 Million Balloons Into The Air Is A Bad Idea

In 1986, organizers with United Way of Cleveland believed they had the best idea to create a minor publicity and generate a beautiful spectacle in the process. With a crowd of volunteers working all hrs, they loaded one.5 million helium balloons, and released them all at once. Regrettably, they had no idea the horrible effects they would unleash by doing so, and their tragic error led to the deaths of two men and women and hundreds of thousands of pounds in damages by means of lawsuits. Whilst the sight of one.5 million balloons climbing to the sky must have been an amazing sight to behold, the outcome was much from what they had meant. Two deaths, tens of millions in lawsuits, and a devastating environmental influence.
